Children have never had more competing for their attention. Short-form videos, games and endless scrolling can deliver something new every few seconds, while sitting down with a book asks for a very different kind of focus. Our mission is simple: help young readers rediscover the enjoyment of getting completely absorbed in a story. We want to create books that can compete for their attention rather than simply complain that we've lost it.

10-15 Minute Stories

That's why we write short stories designed to be read in around 10–15 minutes. Each one is a complete adventure, mystery or scare, with characters to meet, problems to solve and an ending worth reaching. There's no huge commitment — just pick a story and start reading. Our hope is that finishing one gives young readers that little sense of achievement that makes them think, I'll read one more.

From unsettling technology to frightening discoveries, each story offers a completely new nightmare — spooky enough to keep the pages turning, without forgetting that reading is supposed to be fun.

13 Impossible Tomorrows takes thirteen ordinary children and throws them into thirteen impossible situations. A smartwatch that sees the future. A world without gravity. Alien messages, artificial intelligence, robots, distant planets and much more. Every story begins with a simple What if? and turns it into a fast, self-contained science-fiction adventure.

This Is Just the Beginning

This website is the new home of P. Woods & E. M. Wilde and, we hope, a growing collection of books that get young readers excited about reading.

We’ve started with science fiction and horror, but we certainly don’t plan on stopping there. There are plenty more stories, ideas and collections we want to explore, and we’ll use this blog to share new releases, what we’re working on, behind-the-scenes glimpses and the occasional experiment along the way.
